When setting up Uzurii, the designer Shieglee Ferreira Dos Santos trained a group of 100 women to hand-sew our V (strap). All our seamstresses work from home so that they can earn a living and keep raising their children at the same time. Uzurii has a cooperation with Trees for all. We have chosen to donate 150 trees to the Carara National Park in Costa Rica 1.
In the Netherlands, we donate to various football clubs. This money is used to cover the subscription and kits of the children of less well-off parents. In the office, too, we are engaged with the environment. For example, we have LED lighting, separate our waste and have had solar panels installed on the roof of our main office building and warehouse.
Our product:
As far as our product is concerned, we have transitioned from our coloured box to a cartonboard box made from recycled cartonboard. Our soles are made 70% from rubber. From 2024, we want to offer our customers the possibility to return their “old” slippers to us free of charge so that we can send them for recycling at a well-known company. We are still working hard on this and hope to be able to launch this service in 2024. We are working with our team to be able to contribute to a better environment in as many areas as possible, a vital aspect of life nowadays.
Uzurii is continuing to take steps towards sustainability.
